CITIES

Lake Sammamish is bordered by four cities:

• Bellevue is the largest and most upscale city on the Eastside, spanning between Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish. The city is linked to Seattle by two floating bridges.

• Issaquah is located at the south end of Lake Sammamish, sixteen miles east of Seattle via I-90. Issaquah is rich in heritage and surrounded by foothills.

  

• Redmond is located fifteen miles east of Seattle via 520, on the northern end of Lake Sammamish. The city is the biking capital of the Northwest with bike trail system reaching to Seattle and other nearby cities.

• Sammamish was newly incorporated on August 31, 1999. It is located on the east side of Lake Sammamish extending upward in elevation to the area known as the "plateau". Sammamish is a family-oriented community with numerous quality neighborhoods.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Regardless of where you choose to live on the lake, Lake Sammamish families enjoy excellent public and private schools, including:

• Lake Washington School District at the north end of the lake.
  
  • On the east side - From SE 8th Street northward to Redmond.
  • On the west side - From NE 24th Street northward to Redmond.

  

• Issaquah School District at the south end of the lake.
  
  • On the east side - From SE 8th Street southward to Issaquah.
  • On the west side - From Vasa Park southward to Issaquah.

• Bellevue School District runs along the mid section of the west side of the lake from NE 24th southward to Vasa Park.

• Private Schools are also an option that many lakefront homeowners choose.

SHOPPING CENTERS

Major shopping centers in the vicinity of Lake Sammamish include:

• Gilman Village is located just off I-90 in Issaquah. Gilman Village is a collection of unique, small shops in houses connected by quaint pathways.

• Redmond Town Center is located just off 520. Redmond Town Center is a newer outdoor shopping mall with retail chain stores, such as Macys and REI, as well as unique boutique shops.

  

• Bellevue Square is located in downtown Bellevue. Bellevue Square is a major indoor shopping destination. The shopping center has nearly every major retail stores as well as specialty stores.

  

• Crossroads Mall is located on the west side of Bellevue on 156th Avenue. Crossroads Mall has an extensive food court and several major stores such as Old Navy, Michaels, Jo Ann Fabrics, Barnes & Noble, and more.
