Seattle Seahawks: 49ers Fall to Hawks in Santa Clara

The Seahawks traveled to California for Sunday afternoon’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. The Hawks have statistically done quite well when playing in Santa Clara, and this game proved to be no different. Even though it took a bit of time to find their way on offense, the Hawks’ defense and Russell Wilson’s second half play helped them pull away to a 24-13 victory.

The defense was without two of their best players in Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman (both are out for the season), but that didn’t seem to intimidate them in the slightest. They set the tone early by holding San Francisco to just 3 points in the first half. Bobby Wagner finished the game with 8 tackles, putting him at 100 for the season and cementing his legacy as one of the best defensive players in the league. On offense, the Hawks continued their streak of targeting tight-end Jimmy Graham in the end zone and gave him his 8th touchdown of the season.

This was a game the Seahawks needed to win and luckily they came out playing hard. While still a game behind the current NFC West division leader Los Angeles Rams, the Hawks are showing more consistency as we get into the latter part of the regular season. But they’ll have their work cut out for them next Sunday night when they go up against the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles at 5:30pm. Don’t forget to wear that blue all week in support, and as always “Go Hawks!”.
