Cinco de Mayo is this Saturday! Not only is it a perfect time to relax with some cool beverages and great food, but it’s another great way to spend time with your family and friends! If this is your first time hosting a Cinco de Mayo celebration, you may be a little unsure where to begin regarding decorations. Here are a few tips to help transform your space for the holiday!

  • Plants/Cacti: Some earthy pottery with a few blooming cacti would make a great accessory to your celebration. It’s a low maintenance plant with color that pops. Combine with some other plants in hanging pots to really complete the aesthetic.

  • Mix & Match Colors: The quintessential Mexican blankets are usually pretty inexpensive and versatile to work as a tablecloth, wall hanging, or as a fabric that could be used for throw pillows. The blankets feature very bright, dynamic colors that really pop when layered and combined with one another. A few colorful tassels and pompoms could also give your space a good Mexican bohemian vibe as well.

  • Woven Materials: Due to their lightweight nature, handwoven wicker baskets are lightweight enough to be hung easily as wall art. Woven baskets also work really well with other wood items and are great for organizing as well! Even using bamboo and wicker as a border around other items (like mirrors for example) will make them stand out and compliment your theme.

  • Decor: Consider spicing things up a bit with a salsa bar layered with different flavors and colors of salsa. Throw in some colorful flowers on the table and combine with some hanging whimsical paper flowers floating above the table to complete the experience.
