Summer Music Festivals
While you’re outside this summer enjoying time on the lake or hiking trail, why not take time to check out some of the music festivals taking place around the area? Seattle has developed its own signature sound over the years and has also been a popular concert destination for musicians across many different genres. Here are a few festivals going on this summer that you might be interested in checking out:
Chateau Ste Michelle Winery (Woodinville, WA): Throughout the entire summer, Chateau Ste Michelle hosts summer concerts. Woodinville is also famous for its wineries in general, so be sure to grab a bottle of wine and bring everything needed for a picnic. The seating is all outdoor on a large lawn facing the stage, so you’ll get to enjoy the beautiful weather along with your music.
ZooTunes (Seattle, WA): On June 20th & August 15th/16th, the Woodland Park Zoo hosts outdoor shows. This is an ideal way to experience live music with the family. Nothing pairs better with music than adorable baby otters, right?
Bellingham Festival of Music (Bellingham, WA): All throughout July, cruise ships will idle in the background as the chamber players play at this orchestra festival. The guest musicians scheduled to perform this year are Jeremy Denk and the Calidore String Quartet. If you find your way to the north part of the state, you may want to stop and check this one out.
Jazz Port Townsend (Port Townsend, WA): To all the jazz lovers out there, one of the nation’s oldest jazz workshops culminates in a series of live performances in a beautiful state park that’s perched above the Strait of Juan de Fuca, continuing later into the night at some other different venues as well.
